The technology was first developed in the 1950's to assist physicians in their work. This allowed physicians to take pictures of human organs using endoscopy without surgery. However, in just over a decade, this technology has been used to transmit information at the speed of light through telephone connections. 


What is in fiber optic technology? 

A fiber optic cable is made up of a large number of optical fibers. Optical fiber is a very thin fiber of plastic or glass. An optical cable can hold from two to several hundred fibers. Each fiber is thinner than human hair and can transmit thousands of telephone calls. This complete light-based technology transmits information or data between a sender and a receiver.

First, data transmitters use laser devices to convert information into light vibrations. This light vibration then flows through the fiber optic cable and is detected at the other end. The device receiving the call at the other end uses a light detector or photoelectric cell to convert that light vibration back to the original information.


How does this technology work?

The vibrations of light are basically tiny particles of light. These particles travel at high speeds through reflection through each of the optical fibers of the fiber optic cable. Basically full internal reflection and cable structure, these two methods are used to retain light inside the pipe. Light can pass through its edges as it moves through the transparent glass filament. But if light hits the glass diagonally at a certain angle, then full internal reflection occurs and the light stays inside the glass filament.

An optical cable is basically a combination of two different parts. The cable has a core, through which the light travels. It is in the middle. And the main part is surrounded by a glass cover, which does not allow the light signal to come out of the main part. 


What is this technology used for? 

This fiber optic cable is used for many purposes including computer networking and broadcasting. Fiber optic cable helps in transmitting data through high bandwidth without any hassle and hassle in case of computer network. This greatly reduces the cost of operation and maintenance.

The electromagnetic interference that is created when transmitting data through ordinary copper cable does not create any such obstruction in the case of fiber optic cable. And through it a lot of information can be sent at once. Fiber optic cable is used in all modern broadcasting organizations for high efficiency and strong signal transmission.
